This song is very dear to me. I grew up in NY, having a happy-go-lucky childhood. I had friends, I enjoyed school, and was just living my life.
At 16, we suddenly moved to Israel. I had mixed feelings because I really wanted to live in Israel, but on the other hand, my entire life was in NY. It was a hard change for me. I had a huge culture shock. It wasn’t an easy adjustment. People used to tell me, “Wait two or three years, things are gonna get easier.” I waited, but it was still hard.
BUT this is the place I want to be in. This is the land I want to live in. This is my land. The land that G-d gave us. And in this land, I’m gonna live BY HOOK OR BY CROOK!
